It was during the 1950s that the teacher read to the class "The Magic Faraway Tree." You could hear a pin drop. After reading most of the "Noddy" books my interest in books was captured. My school (juniors) was about 10 min. walk from the library, my sanctuary after school. We didn't have books at home past the "baby book" stage. As an adult, having lived in different parts of the country (20 times), my first port of call is the library:- what's on, what's local, internet, music, DVDs, information, videos, friendly/helpful staff + LOADS OF BOOKS. Long may they continue.
