Film-goers queue down Tudor Place (now Tudor Square) for a screening at the Library Theatre on a Saturday afternoon in 1950.
The Library Theatre had been used during the war as an air raid shelter and to show Ministry of Information films. In 1950, projectors were upgraded and City Libraries' Film Weeks began a programme of films that were either foreign or based on literature. Today, the art deco theatre hosts everything from am-dram to drag shows to wrestling.
